PDJ is a passion project that encompasses everything we like in leather and outdoor garments.
WE DO NOT BELIEVE IN TRENDS, THE HYPE OR THE HOTTEST SHIT.
WE DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT FASHION MAGAZINES TELL US.
WE DO NOT SUPPORT CELEBRITIES AS FASHION ROLE MODELS.
We believe in craftmanship, quality and durability.
“First, last and only” (Kowalski to the girl in “Vanishing Point”).
Our history:
My family has been producing garments for 3 generations:
My grandfather started as a “portefeuiller” before WWII, made leather fasteners for the wooden legs of his fellow war prisoners during imprisonment in Russia and started a small company for leather goods, gloves and caps for the motorcyclists of the late 40’s and early 50’s. My father and mother joined him and started making leather garments in the late 50’s first for Motorcylists
But soon for ladies and men making fashion out of leather. They became famous for their sheepksin jackets i the late 60’s and early 70’s and even made it on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. Today our goal is to make high quality timeless pieces of garments that stand the test of time and should be good enough to be handed over to our sons.
What’s with the name?
PRIDE stands for the attitude of the wearer. Over the decades leather jackets have been worn to protect but also to demonstrate an attitude. From the Pilots and Bomber Crews of WWII proudly wearing their A2’s, G1’s, or B3’s to the bikers sporting their Perfectos and CafeRacer jackets to the Black Panther Movement of the late 1960’s with their uniform-like leather coats. A demonstration of PRIDE&DiGNITY.
But PRIDE also stands for the skills, expertise and knowledge of our experienced patternmakers, cutters and tailors. We sincerely regard them as our partners and respect their DIGNITY.
